QSNTS SUBMISSION TO THE AUSTRALIAN LAW REFORM COMMISSION: REVIEW OF THE NATIVE TITLE ACT 1993 - ISSUES PAPER

In August 2013, the Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) received a reference for an inquiry into Commonwealth native title laws and legal frameworks. The Issues Paper was the first consultation document for the Inquiry. It was intended to encourage informed community participation. Individuals and organisations were invited to make submissions in response to specific questions, or to any of the background material and analysis provided.

QSNTS made a submission to the ALRC  in relation to the Commission’s review of the Native Title Act, in particular its focus on connection requirements and the barriers posed by authorisation and joinder provisions under the Act to claimants’, potential claimants’ and respondents’ access to justice.

Submissions closed on 14 May 2014.
